Origin –

The organizing process of the World Judo Federation (WJF) has gone on for many years since 2009 and it has been a careful planning for building a new World Federation in line with Sport for All guidelines, principles and visions. The WJF was thus recently constituted in a Constitutive Congress at Niteroi, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Friday 26 August 2011.

 

Organization –

The World Judo Federation (WJF) is built of National Sport Federations administrating Traditional Kodokan Judo and is organized in line with most other international sports organizations, i.e. the World Federation consists of five Continental Federations for Africa, America, Asia, Europe and Oceania.

The Freestyle Judo South Africa Organization Alliance (FJSAOA) are proudly an affiliated member of the WJF 2019/2020 , and will uphold, abide and use the WJF Mission, Purpose, Vision and Values Statements as a guideline, to promote Traditional Kodokan Judo (TKJ), provide services and guidance to foster Technical Excellence, Fellowship and Human Character Development. The FJSAOA is committed to ensure Integrity, Fairness and the Highest Standards within the International Sports and Martial Arts Community.

About the WJF:

The World Judo Foundation, established by the World Judo Federation (WJF) shall be operated exclusively for educational, cultural and charitable purposes relating to Traditional Kodokan Judo (TKJ) across the globe; in particular to carry out the purely educational, cultural and charitable activities promoting Judo For All by the WJF. The educational, cultural and charitable activities of the WJF’s Foundation relate principally to Traditional Kodokan Judo and include public educational and instructional programs involving research, publications, clinics, tournaments, the establishment of scholarships, the development of international cultural exchange programs and the training and certifications of judo instructors / leaders and the training to promote Judo For All.

The Mission of the World Judo Federation (WJF) is to promote Traditional Kodokan Judo worldwide with a foundation of mutual respect for all styles or systems and to provide services and guidance to foster Technical Excellence, Fellowship and Human Character Development. The WJF is committed to ensure Integrity, Fairness and the Highest Standards within the International Sports and Martial Arts Community.

Purpose –

The World Judo Federation (WJF) is a non-profit corporation and was founded to provide positive growth and leadership development opportunities for all judo practicing people, but with the basic aim of being the World Federation promoting Judo for All. The WJF is not competing with existing federations’ wish of primarily organizing the elite sport for Olympic Games and similar elite sports events. WJF serves to provide the leadership, structure, curriculum, training and certification for technical excellence as well as the leadership, venues, rules, regulations, referees and recognition for competition excellence – furthering the development of Sport for All in the 21st Century.
